Realizing
the market potential in their area of research, they formed Essum AB in 1989.
The company is today well ahead in the development of probiotic bacterial cultures,
and the close collaboration with the university is continuing.
The application of the research ideas on the market has been succesful. The
major market product today are VERUM HÄLSOFIL® and VERUM® HÄLSOYOGHURT,
two probiotic fermented milk products. The public interest in these products
has steadily increased since their introduction on the Swedish market, and sales
have risen year by year.
